The Laminate Floor Board is Made up of Several Layers
Layer 1
First there is the upper wear layer and a decor layer with one or several layers, depending on the production method used. The wear layer consists of a special cellulose (paper) treated with synthetic resin as the durable surface of the flooring. The decor layer gives the laminate flooring its attractive appearance.
Layer 2
Underneath the decor is the substrate made of wood-based materials which is high-density fiberboard (HDF).
Layer 3
On the base of the laminate flooring you will find an impregnated layer on the back of the substrate for increasing dimensional stability and which acts as a moisture barrier.
All three layers are permanently bonded with each other by resin, heat and pressure. DPL stands for “Direct Pressure Laminate”, directly laminated laminate floorings.
